Biography
Dr. Deepak Sharma is a Faculty Research Associate in the School of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering at Oregon State University. His work spans wildfire science, thermal systems, sustainable water technologies, industrial energy efficiency, and advanced experimental methods.
His research combines large-scale and field experimentation with infrared thermography, high-speed imaging, heat-flux measurements, computer vision, thermodynamic analysis, and physics-informed artificial intelligence. Through this integrated approach, he develops predictive engineering knowledge, deployable technologies, and experimentally validated models for complex thermal and climate-related challenges.
Dr. Sharma has contributed to externally funded research supported by federal agencies, industry partners, university programs, and nonprofit organizations. His work has included full-scale structural fire experiments, firebrand source-term characterization, wildfire mitigation technologies, waste-heat-driven pumping and desalination systems, microchannel thermal management, and energy recovery systems.
He also leads the IndUS Energy Efficiency Initiative, a professional platform designed to strengthen collaboration between researchers and practitioners in the United States and India.
